I assume we have all seen the Mandalorian episodes in Star Wars The Clone Wars..and if your like me...you were outraged that the continuity was messed up! (Mando's are pacifists? Mandalore is a wasteland? the death watch are powerful again?)
Yet I've come to accept the TCW as continuity now (even though the series has screwed up the continuity of the EU Clone Wars soooo much), because George Lucas has already approved of this....but there is a way to explain it
I view the mandos in the TCW as a separate sect to the mandos of karen's novels...even if they ignore each other, and pretend the other doesn't exist...i believe skirata and the gang try not to think about duchess satine and the death watch, viewing themselves as true mandos.
Karen Traviss has stopped writing Star Wars novels because of continuity issues in TCW and the upcoming Star Wars live-action series.......karen should have written the Mandalorian Clone Wars episodes however

That would have been awesome if Karen Traviss had written TCW! I'm still having trouble accepting it as canon only because I haven't watched it,and those changes you just mentioned are really hard to look past. but I do agree with viewing it as two separate sects, especially since even in the books they were almost considered outsiders among Mandalorians who thought they were a little too radical.

Ok, I figured it out. After reading an article in one issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine and reading something in the CW Incredible Vehicles, the guys who make the Clone Wars aren't anti Karen Travis or anti-continuity. THEY ARE ANTI-BOOKS!!!! If you completely forget books and only go with cannon established in comics and games they are actually doing pretty good, but you put in the books and they are dead against it, probably because they never read them! When talking about the Mandalorians one of the head CW guys said something like "the fans have to understand that this takes place in a different era than the other sources of Mandalorians." and later, "We tried to add in Expanded Universe cannon where we could... expanded universe being the comics and video games and such." or something like that.
I just had to share that realization. It was the 100 page special Insider that I read that article, and I could be remembering it wrong, but I got the jist down.

Huh. Sounds interesting. I think I picked up that Insider in my last raid of Borders so I'll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing, though! It actually doesn't really surprise me that no one pays attention to the books, some fans hardly do. I would expect the shabla people at Lucasfilm to give a damn, though.
